About two weeks ago, some of my video files started outputting audio to only my R speaker. It appears to be downmixed mono, not just the right channel of a multichannel soundtrack. So far I have only noticed it happening with TV shows, but I'm not sure why TV shows vs. movies would make a difference. It happens regardless of file format or codec. I don't think it is a problem with my receiver, since I've tried movies with 5.1, 2.0, and 1.0 soundtracks and they all work perfectly.
I am using HDMI for video and optical for audio. I believe I have the audio settings in XBMC correct, since until two weeks ago audio worked fine for all files and now audio still works fine with movies and one TV show (that I know of - 720p rips of Doctor Who). I have not changed any system settings or tinkered with the system at all in several months.
Any idea what could be causing this?
