A question about hardware

Goodday to you all

I have a question about my hardware
I want to remove my DVD player and build in this blu-ray player
Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP

Now my question is :
Does XBMC support the player to play original Blu-ray disks or
do i have to plugin another software option to support it ?

With proper BD decrypter software "AnyDVD HD", it can. And you can setup XBMC to playback BD using media player included with your BD-ROM as an External Player too. Here is the guide- Working External Player Solution.
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Take it easy on the new guy bud!

With AnyDVD HD in the background, XBMC can playback blu-ray disc directly on BD-ROM with ease! Smile

Not with menus, and to be honest would kind of be a bit "silly" to play discs with no menus. Rip it (not encode) it to m2ts or mkv and make your life easier.

Just to be sure I got this right ^^'

If I use AnyDVD HD to playback blu-ray discs I don't have a menu while watching the movie? Can I fast forward etc?

I hope that you don't expected everyone (especially the new guy) to know how to use this website!

You still can fast forward with XBMC PlayDisc option. You can try it with your DVD-ROM too!

Different people like different thing (some like ISO to keep all the menus, some like M2TS/MKV and some like BD). For some, they don't feel like spending money on HDD either. They just want to pop in BD in BD-ROM! Smile

Okay so AnyDVD HD allows me to watch a movie just as a "video clip" on YouTube ^^. Does it support chapters?

You can skipping chapter when using XBMC PlayDisc option, and the keyboard shortcut is open square bracket "[" and close square bracket "]". It doesn't have the ability to select chapter "1,2,3,4,5,6,etc" as TMT5 or PDVD11.

@ bluray

Thnx mate that did answer my question

@ eskro

Well i did read allot about it but every time i just got the same answer
You cannot play a BD with XBMC himself
You need a External plugin/programm to run with it

And after seeing the post Bluray made about True-HD DTS-HD audio output
with pre-eden and xbmc-audio-hd i was wondering if i just had to put in a BR-player
Thats all Big Grin

Ok i do have a question about the hardware i have

I have this for my XBMC HTPC
GeForce GT 430 Series - SXT4301024S3LNMP
info : Sparkle GT430
Asus P8H67-I R3.0
info: Asus P8H67-I
Onkyo’s TX-SR507
info: Onkyo
Now i was wondering to get this TrueHD and or DTS-HD out of it what do i have to do ?
I now have the sound from the Motherboard over the SPDIF
but should i use the sound over the HDMI ?

If so do i have to attach any cables inside from the motherboard to the video card ?
I see the manual from Bluray is using a REALTEK soundcard
On my motherboard it's a VIA soundcard ( 8 Channels )
Does that make any differents ??
The sound goes from my HTPC to the Amplifier from Onkyo’s TX-SR507 who supports it
Quote:DTS-HD Master Audio™, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio™, DTS-HD Express, Dolby® TrueHD, Dolby® Digital Plus Decoding

HDMI™ Version 1.3a to Support Deep Color™, x.v.Color™, LipSync, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, DVD-Audio,

Well any help would be welcome
