I've done :

230 Anonymous access granted, restrictions apply.
250 CWD command successful
200 Type set to I
local: XBMC-120126.tgz remote: XBMC-120126.tgz
200 PORT command successful
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for XBMC-120126.tgz

Each time I've started the tail a second or so before the transfer. Not much of interest here me thinks.

One extra thing I've noticed. When the networking fails the only way to sort it out is to reboot, either with select and down on the remote or by pulling the power. When I do this and leave the ethernet cable in the atv sometimes it seems not to boot properly. TV shows a black screen, I can't ping and I can't ssh in.

If I pull the ethernet out and replace a couple of seconds after reboot then there's never a problem.

I'm going to take it to a friends later to try on their network. Out of interest they single handedly programmed this game on all formats.

Strangely i had the same issue a couple of days ago. (when playing a large file over smb) Have you updated to the new openssh? I did it when beta 2 was released and thought that might be the issue

I am actually really, really interested now to hear what happens when you take it to your friend's house....

Just to confirm...these Ethernet cables are not homemade deals, right? They're bog-standard store-bought patch cable (not crossover)?

- ATV2 4.4.4 (iOS 5.0.1) build 9A406a, running Frodo (final version)
- Macbook Pro, running OSX Mountain Lion
- Skin: reFocus
- Connecting to MySQL database on Synology DS411+ NAS via NFS.

Far too lazy to make my own cables when they come free with everything and I have loads sitting about doing nothing. I've got long ones, short one's, blue, yellow, black (with and without red connectors), red, grey, cat5 and 5e but no home brew. Smile

So, went to my friends and ....

EXACTLY the same thing multiple times over.

This problem is defiantly ATV2 specific, nothing to do with my network and nothing to do with an individual atv. The way I see it it's iOS, Cydia or hardware related. Where would I start trying to submit a bug report about this. Obviously Apple won't be interested, how about Cydia ?

I'm now going to explore copying the directory to my Linux box before tarballing as it's pretty obvious that moving large files off of it's not going to happen. I wonder if that'll fail too.

If it does I might have to resort to streaming video over wireless. Suppose I could put an access point next to the atv and have a ssid for streaming only. Rather not, I like wires.

Backup one version of SeasonPass and try that. This sounds like a jailbreak issues or something with the cydia bits that are installed.

Just to chime in .. exactly the same things happens to me on two separate ATVs both running beta2 - I also used Seas0nPass for the initial JB. The last time it happened (last evening) I was able to exit XBMC and navigate in ATV's menus. I noticed that under networking the ATVs mac address was blank.

[EDIT]
DiQ23 -- before you head down the downgrade road - what package are you using for the copy? I just tried filezilla for the sftp (I was using WinSCP) and it appears to work like a charm (I ran three separate backups without a hitch)

Please see this post. I've tried multiple copy protocols across multiple operating systems.

Occasionally it works for me, then I try again and it fails. Try a few times, perhaps reboot and try again. For every time I have one success I have multiple failures.
