[AppleTV2] Crashes (LIBAFPCLIENT: I have no idea what this is a reply to)
#1
I thought my crashes had stopped, but that's not the case.

XBMC, Platform: Darwin iOS (11.0.0 AppleTV2,1, Version 5.0.1 (Build 9A406a)). Built on Dec 24 2011 (Git:20111222-22ad8e4)
ATV2 4.4.4 (tethered JB)

Streaming movies from my Macbook air (SSD Drives), APF-protocol, Airport Express WIFI.

Sometimes it just crashes and throws me back to main menu. Seems random, because I can rewatch the same clip immediately after the crash w/o problems.

I tried the troubleshoot's for crashes in the FAQ with no success. What does the logs indicate?

Thank you in advance!

Have you tried unraring the files before playing them? The strain of doing that on the fly over wireless is causing problems with data delivery.

Frist - thx for the complete report.

Sadly this crash is known and we are not able to fix it for eden. Sorry - you only have a chance to use something else beside AFP (which works for 50% of users and doesn't for the others).

I would go with NFS (though there is a crash bug in beta2 under some circumstances which will be fixed in beta3).

Oh, I see. Does that mean you are not looking into it or that you think it's too big of a time investment and it will be looked upon for v12?

Why does it not work for 50%? Could you share some insight here?

The original developer of the library is no longer working on it. This puts it into the too hard basket for the moment.

Hi,

I have the same problem because everytime the clock will check the date my ATV2 crashes XBMC.

In the last line I always see:
AppleTV timed[270]: (Error) CoreTime: Can't set time zone to nil!

Here is my complete log: http://pastie.org/private/qb4zdbvpgllomttvfflfyq
I also see the "I have no idea what this is a reply to" in the XBMC log.

And the XBMC Logfile: http://pastie.org/private/b5ee1eqkjx6cdy8wulg2xw

So the first time I started the ATV after the jailbreak everything works so fine!!
Next day I started the AppleTV I just saw the startscreen and:
"Updating date and time".

This was the breaking point. After this date-and-time-update I can't play movies in XBMC and everytime I tryed to start a movie via SMB or AFP I got this error you can see in the logfile above.

So I think there is a little or big problem with the timeserver?
I tryed to using NTP except of localtime in the ATV Settings.
But this don't helped me.

I hope you can help me a little Smile

Greetings,
iRoey

What lib do you mean? And is there the source code out now?

http://afpfs-ng.cvs.sourceforge.net/view.../afpfs-ng/ <- original code

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/tree/master/lib/afpfs-ng <- our patches already done to it.

Thanks..

so after doing this fix: http://charlestendell.com/os-x-lion-afp-...error-fix/

I got the error:

20:18:12 T:112373760 ERROR: LIBAFPCLIENT: I have no idea what this is a reply to, id 910.

Now its id 910. This is new for me, for you too?

we are mostly authenticating with DHX2 UAM against lion servers - i doubt that "fix" didn't anything in that xbmc scenario. Beside that the id is dynamically - could be any other number there though its allway the same bug i think...
