Reassign buttons?

Is there a way to reassign functions to existing buttons? For example, being a non-english user I use subtitles a lot, and I'd like to confiure the < and > buttons to de/increase subtitle delay (instead of pressing Menu, select Subtitles menu, select subtitle delay, press select, adjust subtitle press select and back to exit to show.)

Without changing the source-code, there is currently no method available to reassign the buttons.

You could probably use a generic "android as keyboard"-solution (like this one: http://remotedroid.net/) and then use one of the available buttons for the subtilte delay (configured via keyboard.xml - the actions you are looking for a "SubtitleDelayMinus" and "SubtitleDelayPlus" )
