Apple remote up/down = changing volume

Please list everything you trashed?

Also, is XBMC set to launch at boot/login or do you launch it manually the first time (perhaps with menu button)?

I do not have XBMC starting at login.

I have apptrap installed on the mini. I just dragged XBMC to the trash and apptrap found other files to delete that are related to XBMC (it seemed a lot of files)

Installed the nightly, restarted, and ran it. It worked right away. It seems to be faster as well, but that is a subjective view.

It sucked having to set everything up again, but now everything works.

One note: I did not add any new repositories or add ons yet.

Interesting.

The apple remote works if I do not start xbmc at login (with "start xbmc with apple remote" ticked). As above it does not work if i start xbmc at boot/login.

Any devs with macs prepared to spend time on this on Mavericks (ML was fine) - been too long with apple remote issues - pm me and I will buy you an apple remote or something to a similar value if you already have one!

I've got access to an iMac with Mavericks that doesn't have a remote, and a MBP with ML that does have a remote. I'll see if I can MacGyver an adapter from one of my broken ATV1s.

I've had this problem on my Mac Mini - interestingly, when I had to move XBMC to another machine for a couple months while I had some building works done, I never ever had this problem on the other machine. It's really very irritating, especially since it involves logging out of the user account and back in again, and especially for guests like babysitters who don't really need to be dealing with problems like that! I tried the sleep watcher solution but that didn't work. Is the general consensus that the problem has to do with sleep issues?

For those trashing all XBMC / Kodi data delete the following folders:
OSX Finder > Go > Go to Folder >

~Library/Application Support/XBMC
~Library/Application Support/Kodi

Then when you restart XBMC or Kodi, it will be like a first run fresh install.
