[RELEASE] Advanced Wake On Lan (WOL) Addon - Wake up a remote computer/server
(hope you saw my edit comment above)

As to your recent post, yeah, I get it:  Sending WOL magic packets to a device that is already awake has no real benefit.  And I totally get that it does not reset any "clock" that keeps a count.

If it is on, no benefit.  If it is sleeping, it them wakes.

The behavior of KODI WOL seems to be that if something is requested, the KODI WOL checks to see if it is awake and if not sends a packet.  As Adv WOL relies on that already existing code it should work the same, I suppose.

The unfortunate thing is that I think I found a bug with the v21 code ...  and if it (Kodi V21 WOL) can't work right, then Adv WOL can't work correctly either.

Thanks, but it looks like this won't help as a workaround for my existing problem.

@meridius - If you take a look at https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/25111 ...  it appears that the wake-on-lan problem has been going on for some time.  (So, I'm glad that I documented the problem at length.)

From what I can tell (because I don't speak coder / developer) they have come up with a solution:  some pointer was requesting improper info, and they have made a change that now gets it to make the correct request.

As to when and how the fix is rolled out, beats me.  But it will be.

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/25111 is a fix for a problem that only exists on Windows. It won't make a difference on a box running CoreELEC.

hope so as i can not wake the pc anymore (windows 7)  as i used to use a pc kodi front end script to wake a pc but I have now  shifted to android  coreELEC front end and tried the option in kodi to to wake a pc, but like i say does not work it gets all the ip address and mac address and creates WOL files but wakes nothing when used.

Well, if KODI supports CoreElec, then I guess that you would submit a bug report with log files and a description of the problem.

Saying it doesn't work is one thing.  Documenting that it doesn't gets action.

At least that is what I did, and they came up with a possible fix for me in Windows.

I wish you success!

well know one has responded so not sure if its a kodi bug as even the coreelec version would just  use the kodi edition on there installs but the WOL is not doing anything and i need a way to wake the server

Edit 11/5/24
it seems i did not realise Kodi does not wake the server as soon as Kodi has loaded from power off, but infarct once you go into your media library iof movies or tv shows it must then send and activate the wake up command but  not before then.

seems to be working with CoreELEC
