HTPC Remote Clarification

Hi,

I currently have an Asrock 330HT with a built in IR receiver and my Harmony 600 remote works great with it, I'm looking to get rid of it though due to me not being tolerant enough of it's fan noise and getting an Acer Aspire Revo R3700 instead which doesn't have an IR receiver. I have been reading through the forums and there is a lot of mention of the HP IR Receiver's but they're hard to come by in the UK.

I will be running Windows 7 with XBMC on top so was just wondering if any old IR Receiver will do as there are plenty on ebay albeit bundled with an MCE remote like this...

Would this do the trick?

Thanks

Well it seems that didn't work. The remote I received works fine with the receiver but having configured my Harmony remote as an MCE Keyboard it doesn't register any of the button presses and I checked device manager and an eHome device driver isn't loaded so I think the cheap receiver with this was no good.

Does anyone know where to get a fully supported eHome/RC6 receiver in the UK because I'm coming up with squat!

Most likely have to get one from a Hong Kong/China based Ebay seller..

That's the one I actually ended up with from ebay but it isn't ehome/rc6. I did however find this:

Compro VideoMate K300 Remote Control Kit - Microsoft Media Centre:

Which definitely has an RC6 protocol receiver according to other users reviews and the manufacturers spec sheet.
