Are there any advantages of using windows 7 over XP with XBMC?

I'm Just curious because I have an old XP disc laying around.

The biggest one I can think of is support for gfx card hardware acceleration DXVA2 for windows 7... means the graphics get offloaded to the graphic card while your CPU relaxes with calls to drives and ram. I'm sure there's quite a few other things .. like the ease at flipping display between TV and PC.. 4gig cap.. well not much.

I was hoping to spend the money somewhere else but maybe it might be worth spending it on win 7.

or going XBMC live/openelec route?

If we're down to that.... XBMC and openelec would be my choice. Hang the XP disk.. in a few months, their will be clear-outs as win/8 hits the fan.
