Dont know how good the Kinect for windows will work with a htpc setup. All I know is that it work from down to 40 cm from the object, I can just assume that it hasnt that long range.

Default Mode = 80cm to 4m
Near Mode = 40cm to 3m

I don't see the point of using Kinect 4 windows api, as it's only for Windows system. And for the moment, it's locked for Windows version of Kinect and not Xbox ones ( not compatible for bad licensing reasons )

If there's a Kinect integration in xbmc, this should be done using OpenNI framework instead. This one works under windows, mac os and linux.

Check out http://www.kinemote.net ... looks like they have software in place for XBMC. Have not tried it out yet but does look pretty cool.

is it worthwhile to wait for the new kinnect device for the PC or just buy the Xbox one ? Will check out the video after work. But is it minority report style responsive ?

I hate to see what kind of movies it would start playing if the kids crash out early and me and the old lady are on the couch.. .alone... and well...

It works just fine with the xbox one, but your arms will get tired pretty quick. XBMC works really well with the kinemote software.

Been trying out kinemote today but it's pretty erratic using Aeon Nox. Does the SDK support keyboard replacement gestures? As in, can I install it and use it to control xbmc right away?

Thanks
