MTS files show time/datestamp
#1
I recently bought a new digicam which records movies in .MTS (AVCHD) format. My previous camera did the same, so I have a bunch of older and newer MTS files on my NAS.

When I play movies created with the old digicam (Sony HX9V) the files play without any added info, but when I play movies from my new camera (Sony NEX5N) there is a date/timestamp on top of the movies which is NOT visible when I play the same file on my pc or on the camera itself.

My guess is this is some meta-data which is pulled from the file and shown by XBMC. Is there a way to turn this off?

I have same HX camera and I realized that .mts are files acts merely a mastercopy that needs to be re-encoded. I use Xlisisoft to convert these files into pure h264, that DXVA2 acceleration can chew in Xbmc. .. and everything else aswell..

XBMC plays the mts files just fine, but I want to get rid of the date/time stamps.

You have prob. found this out already, but turn off subtitles.
When you have these on by default, metadata will be shown.
Same as many other players.
