My first build...any help would be appreciated!

Hi all,

I just recently moved into my first place and bought a new 51" Samsung.
I've known of xbmc for quite some time now, and decided to jump in and build my first htpc. I went with one of the configurations that eskro recommends in his thread.

If there are any issues or problems with any of these components...I would be really grateful for the help before I got started with the build.

Here is my build:

APEX MI-008 Black Steel Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case 250W Power Supply

WD Green 2TB HD

Kingston 4GB DDR3 1066

ASRock H67M-ITX LGA 1155 MotherBoard

ZOTAC GeForce 210 512MB 64-bit DDR3 VideoCard

Intel Celeron G530 2.4GHz Processor

OCZ Onyx Series 2.5" 32GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

TP-LINK TL-WN321G Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB

SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Case Fan

Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken Rev. B 3 Heat Pipes CPU Cooler

Thats the complete list...

I'm hoping to install Windows 7 with a USB Drive as my boot disk since I don't have a cd-rom drive in this build. I plan to also try and run sabnzbd + sickbeard + couchpotato alongside xbmc. Will this build be sufficient enough to run this set up?

Anything else that is imperative to this process that I'm missing out on? I already have a monitor/keyboard/mouse to setup xbmc and all that jazz....it looks to me like I've hit everything, but I can never be too sure as this is my first build.

Also, right now I have planned on local 2TB storage and a small SSD for the OS. How important is it to setup a server or RAID storage setup to hold all my media? I'm trying to take this one step at a time, so for now I was thinking of going local and then once I have successfully gotten that running, in the future if I want to expand my media collection I might jump into that entirely different world....

Any suggestions/tips/comments? All are appreciated. Thanks to everyone on this forum that has gotten me this far...I'm very excited to jump into the world of HTPC's.

I'd say ditch the USB wifi and get an Intel mini-PCIe card (6200 advanced-n). Think about getting a second hard drive for sabnzbd+ (one for downloading to-say 500GB, one to extract to-the 2TB one, this is more important the faster your internet connection is).

Also I'd get a GT 520 over a 210 - I'm sure the AMD guys will suggest a 6450 or greater as well.

1. Patriot Torqx 2 32GB (SSD)- better speed for $50!

2. ASUS EAH6450 Silent- it'll playback everything, and better performance running W7+XBMC.

3. EnGenius EUB9706 Wireless N- better performance for a little more money!
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
