I want to setup a TV streaming server supporting media files as input sources.
I want to play the streaming media in xbmc as live tv media.
Is this possible?
Im quite new to this stuff. I would appreciate even a good keyword to google. most of the links i found are for tv cards.
thanks.

Are you referring to a DVB-T card in your pc that can be accessed to watch live tv through the 'standard' method rather than internet streaming?

Not sure about the question but a dreambox or Vu+ will stream live TV to XBMC?
If you are setting up a server than Mythtv is maybe the way to go or the new pvr build of xbmc?
Or have i got this wrong and you wish to buffer streams to files on a server?

Yeah I mean that's what I was thinking about installing the mythtv backend and then using the xbmc frontend to access it.
