I have start xbmc-Eden_beta3-xbmcbuntu creative x-fi usb with optical connection to Digital receiver and 5.1 speakers. When I play video with AC3 or DTS passthroughput and all play excellent. But if I play mp3 or mp2 I see error message from audio device settings and any audio data in digital receiver.

Have anybody has any information how solve this problem?

I had to after installing beta2 to get music working again...might not be your issue but cant hurt to try

What settings are you using for the audio output and passtrough??

thank you but libmad0 is newest version.
I removed it and install again but mp3 still do not work
and XMBC "failed to initialize audio device" error message.

Boost volume level: on
AC3 capable receiver: on
DTS capable receiver: on

Audio output device: SB X-FI Surround 5.1 - iec985 - 0 (ALSA)
Passthrough output device: SB X-FI Surround 5.1 - iec985 - 0 (ALSA)

I tried change Audio output device to other but it do not work too.

I have the same problem with openelec and creative x-fi. It plays correctly the multi channel audio but not the 2 channel audio.

Did you found any solution?

yes, I make two things
1. http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMC_for_Linux ( 8.2.1 S/PDIF out for both analog and digital audio)
2. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1057741

and reboot

try step1 and reboot and try play music, maybe second step is not necessary
