volume control from homescreen and sidemenu ?

hey.. i have an idea., and would like to know if its even possible.
can 2 small volumebuttons be placed between the play pause stop buttons and the fullscreen button on the homescreen and in the sidemenu?
i know that this is a request that i could live without but i often find myself using the mouse to navigate around xbmc and would really like to control the volume without the need to exit fullscreen and turn down the volume outside xbmc...
i am using the confluence-MOD skin.. hope someone can help? and thanks for an awsome forum guys!
