Ok, now I removed (purged) pulseaudio*...dada: No sound in menu *and* no sound in movies.

The error message that I get is:
Code:
20:51:19 T:2503191408   ERROR: Initialize - failed to open custom device plughw:0,3,AES0=0x6,AES1=0x82,AES2=0x0,AES3=0x2 (error:No such file or directory), retry with default plughw:0,3
20:51:19 T:2503191408   ERROR: Initialize - pcm_open_lconf, alsa error: -16 - Device or resource busy
20:51:19 T:2503191408   ERROR: Unable to open audio mixer
20:51:19 T:2503191408   ERROR: Creating a Null Audio Renderer, Check your audio settings as this should not happen

So, now the device is busy?

Any ideas? I read about dmix to enable multiple sound processes.....but I have no idea how to configure....

I have this problem too.

I have set custom device to plughw:0,7 which works most of the time, but sometimes when opening a video it fails resulting in no audio until I do system reboot to get it working again.

What if you do this:

sudo chmod -R a+rwX /dev/snd

Stop all that messing about and use -

Custom: plughw:1,3

in both Audio and Passthru.
I struggled for a bit, but managed to get it working on my cleanly installed R3700 this way.
(Used to be plughw:1,7 on Eden B2).

I "solved" the problem by using the optical out (SPDIF) of my Revo....That works like a charm....

Hi all,

I am running into the same problems as mentioned here with my Zotac Box.
Interestingly enough, I can now use
plughw:1,3
on both the audio and the passthrough devices.
This makes me hear audio perfectly via HDMI.

But in order to not have to turn my TV on which is the first receiver of HDMI signals, I wanted to make use of SPDIF.

But I cannot find any plugh:xxxxx or other audio setting to make this working

What I tried:

plughw:1,0
plughw:1,1
hw:1,0
iec958:CARD=NVIDIA,DEV=0

No luck.

With Dharma, as far as I remember, no issues. Even not with the live CD I am currently working with.
And: with Win7 no SPDIF problem either.

So what's broken here?

Hi,

Are you (people who have this sound initialization problem) using A/V sync (in settings => video => Playing) ?

I have this problem too, turning off A/V sync makes everything works (but no A/V sync...).
More weirder, I have this problem with "not-default" skins (Aeon Nox/Alaska), if I use Confluence, then no problem.

In case that could help...

Regards.
