currently on 4.1.1 and want to update my apple tv. I can get the 4.3 ipsw, but why is it highly recommended per the wiki?

4.4.4 seems to suck more system resources away from XBMC. Until we can figure out a way around that, for the sake of a smoother XBMC experience (especially when using subtitles), it's best to hang back on 4.3.

Has been done any progress in installing 4.3 in devices that have been shipped with 4.4.4?

fwiw I used XBMC on 4.3 and it worked fine, but on 4.4.4 I do get the odd boot out of XBMC. It usually happens straight away, and only very rarely when something is playing so it's not a huge hassle. I usually use the BBC iPlayer plugin and that hasn't crashed once.

If it's a totally different thing, then yeah, I agree...but if it's pretty much the same box, runs the current iOS, etc, then wouldn't it basically be identical to the current one for all intents and purposes? - ATV2 4.4.4 (iOS 5.0.1) build 9A406a, running Frodo (final version) - Macbook Pro, running OSX Mountain Lion - Skin: reFocus - Connecting to MySQL database on Synology DS411+ NAS via NFS. |

BUT Apple stopped signing them so if you have not grabbed it with tiny umbrella (http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com) , it's too late.
