Really depends on your eyeballs- sure 18 or 20 will be a little higher quality- but the file size will be higher as well..

I ran into a problem with a set of files for a TV show. I ripped ESPN's 30 for 30 with MakeMKV and whenever I try to use ripbot on them they freeze up at 99%, I think it says "Grabbing Frame" or something like that. Any ideas what this could be? What alternative should I use if ripbot doesn't seem to work?

Can't really speak to that- prob better to ask that question in the rb264 dev forum- I've never run into anything like that.
