XBMC Playback freezes on 1080P & 720p
#1
Hi,

i have a problem since along time. I try to find something on the forum but i didndn't success

Here my settings :
- Shuttle XS35GT + 2 Go de RAM
- Tv Plasma 50Hz and 60 Hz only
- Movies on a NAS synology DS211
- TNT USB SundTEK + TvHeadend
- LAN in 100 Mbits
- Problem met on :
- Unbutu 9.10 + Dharma
- Ubuntu 10.10 + Dharma
- Ubuntu 10.10 + Eden Beta 1 & 3
- XBMCbuntu (eden beta 3)
- Settings XBMC in XBMCbuntu :
- resfresh set to 50 Hz (to be as close as possible to a multiple of 24Hz)
- playback video : sync playback to display - Resample audio.
This is the only one settings that give me at 99% of time a smooth animation

What is wrong :
When i play a movie at 24fps the animation is smooth (frame rate is marked as 25fps and 0% of error) but on the whole movie the animation can freeze and then accelerate to sync back to the sound track (that play well all along the movie). It takes between 2-5 secs to come back to a normal animation.

What i have verified :
- during the problem no CPU overload (less than 20% on a 1080p)
- LAN bit rate is enough
- Nothing particular in log files
- i have tried on an external USB HDD : the time to come back to a smooth animation is a little bit shorter, but the problem is still there.
- The problem appears in all movies.
- The problem is not links to a time in the film.
- On a DVD a 25fps i have no problem !

Does anybody has an idea ?

Regards
nunu

It seems that there such king of issue with ION2 platform. Some openlec brach or a based windows 7 mediacenter can solve this issue.

I will test with W7 !
