rsuter Wrote:@Cthugha: I've already created an app for WOL and it works with my XBMC device (Asus EEE Box). As i have the code to do WOL, it is easy to add this feature in the next version...

A few questions and requests after testing it for a short while...

- Can't seem to find the WOL-feature, is it in the currently released version?

- I'd like to have an option to send either sleep or hibernate instead of shutdown command.

- It didn't load pictures for any tv shows or movies. Known bug? My library is up-to-date with pictures, fanart, etc.

- I really need a menu button (and preferably info button too) for the remote. Can't access subtitles, audio & video settings during playback without it. Maybe remove the vol +/- buttons or do people really use that? (adjusting the volume on TV or reciever should be better)

Other than that it seemed more stable than other remotes I've tested. Connection worked on first try (with username & password) and it never had any trouble sending commands. Very promising Smile

Wake-On-Lan: Open the app and press some seconds on the server item. In the context menu select edit: On the server details page enter your XBMC's MAC address... In the server overview there is now a new option "start up" which will send the magic packet to the computer...

Sleep / hibernate: I will add this feature in the next version which I will publish as soon as the current version has been approved by Microsoft... Information: Shutdown or restart only works with Windows XBMC; my Ubuntu XBMC installation does not execute these two commands (not implemented in Linux XBMC version?)...

Pictures: It is very strange, it seems that there is a problem with the XBMC JSON-RPC authentication. Try without password and username: Does it work this way? I think there is a general problem with the XBMC authentication because if I set an username and password in XBMC settings, I nonetheless have access without UN/P & W... (see previous post).

Menu button: The menu or info button cannot be triggered by JSON. I have to implement an event server, which is not a trivial task. Currently I only have 72 app downloads, and I will not put a lot more effort in this project until there are more users or I personally really miss a feature... While playing a movie, click on the "select" button which will open the movie menu, there you can go to audio settings and change subtitles, etc...

@Vortex1: The version 1.5 is now published, and the problems you mentioned in a previous post should be solved. Is it working for you now?

Hi, I'm also testing this app, and was just updated to 1.5. I was previously experiencing the missing images issue, and unfortunately it is still an issue; no images on any screen. I have a password set for xbmc (can't disable it for security reasons!) so I assume this is causing the problem.

Also, there is still a small typo in English; if you navigate to Media => Series and select a show, the first option "serie" should read "series".

Otherwise, I really like this app, it's very fast and functional. If I have one feature suggestion, it is that you can tap on the Now Playing item to see more information (eg a synopsis) and also a button for eanbling / disabling subtitles, selecting audio tracks etc. I find this is the most practical use of a WP7 XBMC remote, as it allows you to change complex options during media playback without interrupting the movie / show for other viewers!

Many thanks

@jdbrookes:
Typo: I will change that in the next version.
Now playing page: I will consider implementing this feature in a future release...
Image problem: I have one question: If you remove the username and password in the app, does it work or does XBMC refuse the connection (eg authentication failed)? Even if I set a password in XBMC settings, the connection also works without password. Is this a problem with XBMC RC1?

Sorry been a bit busy lately,

The problem still exist, wrong username/password combination will refuse connection
Right username/password combination will let the app work except the images
No username/password shows images.

I got a small question, since there is no costum buttons i want to remap things from your remote. I dont use the mute button so i want that to be the fullscreen button (for the aeon skin).
If i look at the wiki i guess the mute button sends the <mute>mute</mute> command.
so if i put this in de keyboard.xml:
<global>
<keyboard>
<mute>fullscreen</mute>
</keyboard>
</global>
</keymap>

It should work right? i also changed the word keyboard in remote but it doesnt work. Can you say wich command your sending? Or anyone has an idea what im doing wrong (and if its possible)

Hi vortex1

Ive found the the image issue... I've also implemented the event client which is used for "menu" and "info" button. Modifiing keyboard.xml wont work because mute is not sent by event client, it is sent by XML RPC which cannot be modified...

Version 1.6 features / changes:
- "menu", "info", "full" (fullscreen) button, change subtitles button
- virtual keyboard for xbmc text input
- left, right, up, down remote button now repeating
- fixed image bug
- some UI improvements

The update should be available soon...

Sounds like really nice updates! Can't see v1.7 yet but looking forward to it.

I've tried quite a few XBMC remote apps for WP now and I like yours best! Smile Gave it a good review on the marketplace and I'll do my best to promote it to friends etc.

Keep up the good work!

You know multiple people who use XBMC AND Windows Phone?! ;-)
