I definitely am interested as well. I can see the webRTC component creating a big pull thought for xbmc and some commercial implications as well.
I have been a xbmc user since 2009, and evangelize it whenever I can.

Hi amitn,

Any further progress on this? Are you planning on uploading to github or some other repository?

Are there any other alternatives to integrate either Skype or Google Talk with XBMC?

Skype/Microsoft, Google and content delivery organizations like HBO, NetFlix should really come with their own apps for XBMC.. Would be best!
Hopefully someone will pick this up.

Yeah, but that's not gonna happen. So what "someone" should od is to release the code for the Skype integration as open source, so somebodye else can finish it.

Making a half-finished product and then just letting it rot is such a waste.

Thanx @regebro :-)

In order to use Skype in XBMC ( and comply with Skype distribution terms ) I'm working on a binary addon interface (like PVR)
At start, I was not aware of this, this is why it is seems that there was a lot of big progress at the beginning, it was quick and dirty work, it was easy to insert the Skype into XBMC, but now it takes much more time for me to understand the whole binary addon interface.

When the binary addon interface will be done I will be able to release (I hope) a binary (closed source) Skype addon, and some open source addons to WebRTC, ( GoogleTalk was on my roadmap but the change to Hangout killed XMAPP https://developers.google.com/talk/ )

I have a github repository with a at VOIP bracnh https://github.com/amitn/xbmc where I'm working on the interface.

As this is active again - yes please! I assume the binary addons work everywhere (i.e. I could use this in Openelec?) This would make my XBMC box pretty much perfect... I can't do much but if I can offer any support at all please let me know!

This may be on interest...

Tango launches social platform SDK

I haven't checked out the licensing but it might be an option.

hi amitn,

could you take look at this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzqtDvqxcno

this guys have webrtc integrated into qtmediahub

we could use some free xmpp (bosh included) - server for signaling stuff and implement webrtc client without using browser
