I've read online that I could connect a hard drive to my iPad 2, so I bought a usb -> 30 pin connector from eBay but it's not working. I'm wondering if someone here got it working with XBMC.
Thanks!

XBMScript - Easy installation for Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope (9.04) Installing XBMC on Ubuntu can't get easier than this! Before posting error/feature questions regarding XBMScript, read THIS Run as root. Don't be a pussy |

Thanks for your swift reply, Ned Scott, but it appears I have the basic problem that the hard disk does not spin up. I'm using a WD Passport 80GB drive. What components have you been using?

What components have you been using? Make sure your hdd is fat32 formatted as the iPad can only read fat32. Also, the hdd has to supply its own power, or iOS will reject it. You can remedy the issue by plugging the Hdd into a powered USB hub and the hub to the ipad. Some of the hdd will not automount in iFile, so you have to run the command in terminal (I use iSSH) sudo mkdir /var/mnt/mount1 sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk1s1 /var/mnt/mount1 |

or go on cydia and download "usb mount SBsettings toggle" and it mount and un-mounts for you with a simple toggle, no need for terminal
also you need the camera connection kit not just a standard usb to 30pin cable as far as I'm aware ![]() edit: just tested it, you do need the cck...... unless this is what you bought?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/iPad2-Camera-C...1850wt_962 think i might buy one of them now lol instead of having the big clunky cck

I know some cheap 3rd party video cables can lose compatibility with iDevices due to OS updates, but I've never heard anything about that happening with the memory/usb readers. Even if it did, there would probably be a jailbreak option to make it work again (like there is for previously mentioned 3rd party video cables). You can make easy links to the XBMC wiki using double brackets around words: [[debug log]] = debug log, [[Add-on:YouTube]] = Add-on:YouTube, [[Adding videos to the library]] = Adding videos to the library, [[userdata]] = userdata, etc

Can anyone with an iPad 3 tell me if those 30 pin to sd card adapters are compatible? In the item descriptions it only lists iPad 1 and 2.
