Now that I have a ton of MKV's on my server for my XBMC boxes, is there a good player out there for MKV's for my computer if I just want to play something in a Window while I work?
Server: Synology Diskstation 1511+ with 8x WD Red NAS 3TB drives, DSM 5.2
Main HTPC: Home Built i3, 8GB RAM, Corsair 128GB SSD, nVidia 630GTX, Harmony Home Control, Pioneer VSX-53, Panasonic VT30 65" 3D TV, Windows 10, Isengard

windows media player? VLC player? XBMC in windowed mode?
any player will work as long as you install the codecs (google for KLITE CODEC PACK)

Just wanted something to simply play a video, XBMC is more for my HTPC's. Got VLC and it's really nice. I downloaded Free MKV Player and it installed extra crap and I can't even find the player.

VLC is a good old and reliable windows playback friend of mine. It has so far played just about anything.
