for my music library view I would like to have a list on the left with all the Artist names then next to it I would like a panel that contains thumbs all the albums by the currently highlighted artist.

Is this possible natively? If not does anyone know of a script that will do it?

Nope, not available natively. A script could do it, yes, but it wouldn't necessarily be pretty to get it to work nicely.
