never done the .dmg install. can I just copy over and run like I would on a Mac?

You should be able to mount the .dmg and copy XBMC.app to your ATV. It lives in /Applications so you could do:

1) Mount the image (double click on xbmc-20120229-f38655f-Eden-i386.dmg and ignore the installer)
2) scp -r /Volumes/XBMC/XBMC.app [email protected]:/Applications/ (the password should be frontrow, unless you changed it)
3) Run XBMC on your ATV

Be sure to replace the IP address above with yout ATV's IP.

Thanks for the download link. It doesn't work so I guess I can just grab the latest?

I grabbed xbmc-20120302-b097902-peripheral_skinning-i386.dmg and it worked fine, thanks for the help!

I got the file to work too, I just used sftp then mounted in /Volumes and copied it over.

It appeared under Launcher on Apple TV but still no audio

The log shows that the problem I was trying to resolve has been eliminated. Can you tell me:
- HDMI, Optical, or RCA connection
- Volume level showing on screen (using +/- buttons)

I'm not in front of it at the moment but my setup is AppleTV -> HDMI -> TV -> Headphone Socket 3.5mm -> Speakers.
