Audio - video split (upnp)?
#1
Question
So, this is my setup:

[seedbox] --> [xbmc on pc] --> [xbox 360] --> [tv]

The xbox can see xbmc (upnp) and plays the video and sound to the tv, that xbmc grabs from my seedbox. Pc on Win7.

But i would like my sound over the soundsystem that is attached to the pc.
Weather it is still on the tv is not important. And i'd be happy with stereo, 5.1 is bonus Smile

I did some searching and found that it is possible to have split audio:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=86038

But i'm not sure if that would work with a upnp stream because i'm not sure if xbmc can have any control over the upnp stream at all. And if so it would probably be easier to split the audio from the video then to duplicate the audio. And maybe this is very easy and i just wasn't lucky in finding the right settings.

So this is where i got stuck Confused

After Google i think i can be more specific.

I wish to set the output of the UPnP AV MediaRenderer to always be my local
soundcard/device (or anything that will make it go over the speakers of said MediaRenderer).

I have no need for the sound to go to the UPnP MediaServer ControlPoint (xbox).
Although i do not care if it also gets there

I just tried Jack Netdriver (pulseaudio alternative) to see if it could redirect the audio.
But it fails to find the audio source. Anyone know how to find it? Is it seperate from the video?

But how to change the audio output of the UPnP AV MediaRenderer?
Here is me hoping that there is a file that, at some line specifies this.
And that i can go in and paste a piece of replacement code (probably already existing in xbmc)
or simply setting it to always local.

I would also be thankful to any posts that help me:
narrow down my real problem
understanding the problem
or where to look for either coding or alternatives

I am hoping this will eventually result in an option in Audio Output that lets you select:
1. Always Local
2. Direct Upnp

The always local would also provide the users with options to play the audio to multiple
other upnp sound devices (edCast, IceCast combo).
Example: multiple rooms with sound and one with sound and a Music video.

Am I even in the right place to be asking this question?
Should i be in a different part of the forum?
Or be talking to the people that made the media renderer?
Something else?

If XBMC is the UPnP server then all it does is serves up the files to the UPnP client (your xbox360). I'm not sure why you want the PC to play the audio but the xbox to play the video - seems like a rather odd setup.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Well i have my speakers attached to my pc and not to the tv.
So i was basically trying to make the tv into a wireless (attached to xbox) second monitor.
But feel free to close the thread, i wasn't going to figure this out so i bought a cable.
Still have problems, but not for this forum Smile
