Any suggestionsHuh?

I am on the Dharma release i havent upgraded to Eden on my htpc yet would this fix it or have nothing to do with it?

I'm guessing these files are in an MKV container. What are they encoded in?

Yeah, sounds like you're trying to play 10bit files. All most all of today's fansubs are in 10bit.
The solution: Use DSPlayer

Could it be other software running in the background that slows down your player? Firefox, etc. Also check that hardware acceleration is activated in XBMC.
