I think I might upgrade myself to this board
ASUS M5A88-V EVO AM3+ AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

It has the 6 SATA3 ports, has the extra PCI slot, and should still fit in the case.

Any thoughts?

P.S. I like the new icon eskro, knowing is half the battle.

yeah, CObraaaaaa!!!!!!!! Tongue
always liked that logo.

motherboard wise, your paying double the price if u go with the $120 ASUS M5A88-V EVO
instead of the $60 ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS.
worth the price for an extra PCIe 2.0 x16?

also, the $120 ASUS M5A88-V EVO has 5 sata ports. not 6.

the $60 ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS is good for up to 20 hard drives (38TB Storage + 2TB Parity) !!

Parallel ports. Awesome!

That's a great suggestion, but I'm trying to get 4 memory slots. I like to populate it with 4 sticks, so if I have a failure, I can pull a pair, and still be able to run.

In that case, I guess I'd be back at the ASUS M5A88-M.
I can still put 20 drives in the case with the board (and I get the sata3 ports).

By the way, do you have any other suggestions for the molex power cables (1 to 3) and the molex to sata power cables? Looks like both are sold out.

I can go grab others, but I figured you might have some extra knowledge about what spans to where.

The molex to sata power cables can be replaced with the following from monoprice:

24inch 4pin MOLEX Male to (4) 15pin SATA II Female Power Cable (Net Jacket)

I couldn't find a 1 to 3 molex to molex cable, so I swapped it out with 2 of these. Not sure if they will work yet, I'll report back if they don't.

Molex (5.25 Male) / Molex(2X 5.25 Female) Power Splitter Cable - 8in
