Could any one knowledgeble about computer hardware explain to me the meaning of the state ment , real world results make the rasberry pi equvalent to a 300 mhz pentium 2? How could a 700 mhz processor = a 300 mhz processor? this was said on the how powerfull is it section of the faq.

The Raspberry Pi uses an ARM processor,

The ARM name came from Advanced RISC Machines

RISC stands for Reduced Instruction Set Computing.

An Intel Pentium 2 is a CISC chip
CISC= Complex Instruction Set Computing.

Basically, Reduced Instruction Set Computing means that a RISC CPU has to perform more than one instruction to do what a CISC CPU can do in one instruction in many instances.
