streaming a movie off the web
#1
Hello

please can you tell me if it is possible to watch a streaming movie coming in off the
web using XBMC media center?

i would like to be able to use an option within XBMC media center that gives
me a space to type-in the HTTP address of any streaming web movie....then click to actually watch that movie

For example....http://www.myhomemovie/234Sarahbirthday.avi

is this idea possible in XBMC media center?

thanks

Vince.

You need to add the site as a source. Go to Video>Files>Add Videos. In the dialog that pops up select Network Location. In the next window select HTTP and enter the url and port (usually 80) and and user/pass if required.
System: XBMC HTPC with HDMI WASAPI & AudioEngine - Denon  AVR-3808CI  - Denon DVD-5900 Universal Player  - Denon DCM-27 CD-Changer
- Sony BDP-S580 Blu-Ray  - X-Box 360  - Android tablet wireless remote - 7.1 Streem/Axiom/Velodyne Surround System
If I have been able to help feel free to add to my reputation +/- below - thanks!

Well thanks very much for that....

i have only found one other android network media player (hardware) that allows
this http streaming...

I tried the Roku box but simply can't find how to do it. What i did find is a youtube video showing a guy who had written a browser plug in to achieve the "http" scenario mentioned here....

However, his work was experimental and the plug in was not on offer.

i am hoping to use this "http" feature with the Rasberry pi computer running
xbmc

thanks
Vince.
