can't enable media portal add-on
#1
I have setup my media portal server and the xbmc plugin.
Now in XBMC i go to installed add-ons select the media portal add on and the descriptions displays, the configure button works, but when I hit enable it doesn't appear to recognize I hit enable. It almost seams like the focus of the click isn't right or something.

I'm sure this is something very simple, but i'm a n00b. Any ideas? I haven't verified if there is anything in the log, but XBMC appears fine, just won't register that I am clicking enable.

Is there a way to manually enable the add-on?

A few points to check to pinpoint the problem

  1. Make sure that you can tune a channel from the MediaPortal TVServer configuration tool (using the preview button)
  2. Did you also install and enable the TVServerXBMC plugin for the MediaPortal TVServer?
  3. Are you upgrading from an older XBMC version? Try deleting the "Addon??.db" and "PVR??.db" files from your Userdata (profile) folder. See XBMC wiki for the location.
  4. Check if you can telnet to the TVServerXBMC plugin. See the included readme.txt for more information.

When this does not help, please mention which XBMC installation you are using and the version number of the TVServer and TVServerXBMC plugin.
Enable debug logging in XBMC (under system settings) and post a debug XBMC.log file on pastebin.

Thanks for your help.

I am on xp sp3, I downloaded the Eden RC 2 from
http://www.scintilla.utwente.nl/~marcelg....html#eden

I was running into an issue on launch so I had to use an xbmc.exe from
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=119757

1.I have setup mediaportal server, can see my channels in it
2. The TVServerXBMC is enabled and installed in media portal
3. It is a clean install of eden, but I am using that exe file mentioned above
4. I can telnet as mentioned in the readme.

Hitting the configuration button works, but for some reason on all installed add-ons when I hit enable it appears the focus of the click is behind the current window. For exable instead of lighting up the enable button it lights up behind it on the Installed Add-on's screen.

I even tried the tvhead and other add-ons just to see if the focus was off and it is... not sure why this is only on my machine.

I will enable debug logging tonight and get you a pastebin. That is just the info I have off hand.

That is not going to work. You replaced xbmc.exe by a non pvr version.

post #6 on the thread I got it from said it was from your repo. I'm still unclear of what the original issue was from that thread as I updated to an NVidia 8400GS and had the issue until I used that .exe

If his comment wasn't accurate could you point me in a direction of creating my own build to get around that issue?

Sorry i'm new, but your help is greatly appreciated

is there any more info I can provide that will help?

If I install any version of Eden (yours or any non PVR version) I get the error in the other thread. If I use the exe from the thread which is suppose to be built with your version and your current download I hit the focus issue where I can't enable the Add-on.

I'd be open to learning how to compile my own build to work around this, or manually enable the add in. I'm just not positive what is the best option for me.

It appears the "nvidia" issue has hit a few people, but it doesn't really explain what the "exe fix" does.

Just brainstorming out loud I guess.....

The only three reasons I know for not being able to enable the pvr addon are:
1) not using a PVR enabled XBMC version
2) a change in database format (addon??.db, pvr??.db). Can be solved by deleting both.
3) the actual addon binary (XBMC_MPTV_*.pvr) is missing from the addon folder.

You are probably using an older custom build XMBC.exe against my rc2 build so I can't help you.
You could try enabling debug logging in XBMC and check your xbmc.log file for are clues, but I guess that you have to wait until the official XBMC source tree contains a fix for your Eden crash problem.

Thanks for your help. i'll update if I solve it. I might try and compile from your branch and see if it helps. Reading the ticket for my exact error the person that made the exe said he didn't change anything just compile. I'm debating getting git and visual studio setup for this.
