HTPC w/XBMCbuntu for bedroom
#1
Looking at my first HTPC will be using it in the bedroom. Everything will be streamed from my main PC. Needs to be able to handle 1080p, Amazon Prime and Netfilx. This is the first step in Cutting the Cord in my house.

So my HTPC will be:

Foxconn SFF R50-A1 AMD E-350 APU (1.6GHz, Dual-Core) AMD A45 (Hudson D1) AMD Radeon HD6310 1 x HDMI Barebone
Item #: N82E16856119061
Kingston Value 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 Desktop Memory Model KVR1066D3S8N7K2/4G
Hard-drive will be SSD.

I would like to run XBMCbuntu but I'm sure how AMD handles XBMCbuntu?

Please know if this set-up will work and is it worth the time?

Thanks

I know for Netflix on Windows, HD videos do not work with E-350 because it uses Silverlight which is not GPU accelerated.

Google "Zacate Netflix HD"

Yeah, Netflix plus XBMCbuntu don't mix anyway as Linux lacks Silverlight.

So no Netflix (not a problem)

But will it run ripped blue rays in the form of MKV? I think that is the format.

Do you if If there is any other issue?

Yeah that hardware can play the meanest mkvs you can find in XBMCbuntu once you get your AMD setup configured correctly.

It is not that bad. Here is the guide I used recently for a 6450 (very similar GPU):

Sorry about so many questions. This guide was before the update to eden or XBMC 11. Will I still have to do that?

I just want to make sure that I know what to expect.

Thanks

Good question. The guide is actually updated, with the info you need for XBMCbuntu at the very bottom.

Motherboard looks to be the Foxconn AHD1S-K. Reviews are mixed. You might want to dig into it a little more -- see what the complaints are.
