Mood DJ plugin

Hi,

Can someone make a Mood DJ ?

A Mood DJ is an application where you tell which mood you are in and the application will automaticly create playlists based on the choosen mood.

Examples of such products are:
Moodagent: http://www.moodagent.com/mobile-apps/android
Musicovery: http://musicovery.com/

And here are some others:
http://mashable.com/2010/05/06/music-sites-mood/

It is great for setting a mood and be sure that only this kind of music will be played all night long

If I feel sad it would only give me sad songs, can someone create this for XBMC?

I can't create it but i would recommend to listen to happy songs when beeing sad. Else you might get deeper and deeper into a depression. Wink

lol, you're right :-)

But it would be cool if (another example) to let the mood dj choose the right music in any circumstances just based on the mood you want to create for some evening :-)

And it would be a feature that no other Media center has ;-)

this might be a start:
script.musicmood-0.0.2.zip

the script generates a list of available moods in your musiclibrary
(this info is available if you used the allmusic scraper + had the 'download additional information during updates' setting enabled)

it then plays music from your library matching the selected mood.

after installation, the script will be listed in music addons,
there are settings available to enable repeat (default:off) and shuffle (default:on).

Ronie,

Thanks for helping by giving resources, the link you posted is however not functional :-(

Could you post the correct path to the script ?

This is a more basic opensource example of playlist creation (withoud mood buttons):

There is also some interesting reading here:

I've also found out that lots of apps use last.fm services to find next logical song etc..

Ronie, trying to use your script but there are no moods in the list. I have allmusic scraper + the 'download additional information during updates' setting enabled but no go? What can I try, to fix this?

did you also have those settings enabled when you initially scraped your music collection to the library?

Hi Ronie,

I have been keeping an eye on this thread and it doesn't look like anyone is going to pick up where you left off Sad I would continue your work if I had the time or skill required. With 2 young nippers I rarely get the time to do anything that does not involve them.

I wonder if you had the time if you could incorporate music genre into it. So you could choose the music genre first then select mood. As of now it mixes all genres up and some genres dont play so well with others.

Its cool if you haven't got the time or desire to do so. You never know till you ask right? Big Grin
