Any idea why XBMC doesn't like the first file? It plays it perfectly when calling it up from the music data but it won't import it to the database properly!

It'll probably be due to it not reading the tag. When you browse your files, does it display using the tag info or the file info? Similarly, when you play it does it show the tag info or the filename?
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Use something like MP3Tag to check the tags in your FLACs. I use FLACs (tagged with MP3Tag) and they all import fine.

Just a quick note:
Had the same issue with some flac files a few days ago...
XBMC did not show the tags, but Mp3Tag did...
I cut and pasted the whole tags and saved...that worked...
But it seemed that it was an XBMC issue as vlc showed tags correctly...
Will see if I can get a sample for a Trac ticket...

cheers
