xbmc live tv card

If I want to watch live TV with something like myth plugin for xbmc, what kind of capture card would I need to get that would work on linux?

If I am already using a digital TV tuner from my tv company.... can't I just use that and just attach that to my xbmc machine and then my xbmc computer to my tv?

after tons of research I found that i need a special kind of card that works both in japan and on linux..... the cards available to me are possible one of these : http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/ISDB-T_Devices
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Analog_Hardwa...oder_Cards

but possibly not. the best place for me to go is a japanese xbmc or mythtv site/forum

not sure if you have seen this link

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...TV_in_XBMC

It outlines what DVB card you can use, keep in mind you need to install a special modified version of XBMC (also in that link) so it can work

I'm on Windows. But I'm pretty sure the HDHomeRun would work for linux since I've read about people using ATV using it. There's software for Windows/Linux/Apple.

Just need a windows box somewhere to make it easier generating the .strm text files. They essentially point to a web server like link on the HDHomeRun.

Example:
hdhomerun://103064F6-1/tuner1?channel=qam256:729000000&program=1

After owning 4 other TV tuners over the years I wouldn't go back to anything else. The Homerun is just too flexible.
