Weird artifacts in XBMC with MKV playback
#1
Hi,

Congratulation on the best media player ever! I had XBMC on my XBOX1 and now on my ATV2 and on my HTPC, until now I have had zero problems

I run the Shark007 Codec on my HTPC and on my main PC which run different video cards (one ATI and one Nvidia) and I have the exact same artifacts on both (see below), the weird colours/bluring happens throughout the movie and is usually visable on scene changes

when I play the Movie back on my main PC in Windows Media Player and VLC the quality is perfect (see below)

The file info is as follows

Just wondering if there is anything I can do to get this to play back in XBMC.. i'm so happy with the way i have my HTPC setup and it's a pain to play it back in WMP (have to get my keyboard and mouse out of storage)

thanks again for an awesome media center

Gareth.

Your problem is 10-bit video. XBMC will not support 10-bit video until there is an ffmpeg bump post-Eden.

Your options are to either transcode to 8-bit (e.g. using Handbrake) or to use one of the playback options at: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Hi10P_playback
