Why is this moved to OSX?
My htpcs all run on ubuntu 11.10 and this issue is definitely present.
Changing settings in advancedsettings.xml as described earlier in this thread fixes it.
Please re-move it to general.

Audio handling is very platform dependent. This thread stays here as it's very osx dependent.
If you are having audio issues on other platforms, then please open a platform thread, describe your setup, post samples and if you can, post captured audio waveforms that show the issue. Those captured waveforms are critical in determining if there is a real issue or you just have wax in your ears As far as this thread is concerned, the issue is resolve by not using the compressor when playing music. As OSX does not use the same audio compressor that Linux/Win will use, any issues seen under Linux/Win are not the same issue but a separate one which should be addressed separately or threads/issues become a tangled mess that no one can figure out.
