Poor HD Video Performance with Eden
#1
My system stats first:
System: Dell Precision 450
CPU: Twin Intel Xeon @ 3GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3650
RAM: 2GB
OS: Ubuntu 10.04 Server

My problem:
I just upgraded XBMC from Dharma to Eden, as it was offered when I did apt-get dist-upgrade. The upgrade seems to have gone okay, other than having to resolve a problem with XBMC not auto-starting on bootup. However, I now have a problem playing HD videos. Under Dharma, my 720p videos played perfectly. On Eden, the videos play back very slowly, and the audio stutters. I looked around my settings, and I see an option for hardware acceleration using VDPAU, but as I understand it, ATI cards use VAAPI rather than VDPAU. I see no VAAPI settings. Am I missing something? Should I do a fresh installation (something I'm trying to avoid until Ubuntu's next LTS version is released)?
