I have Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Core i7 2630QM 2.00GHz, 4.00 GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 550M with the latest driver.

I recently download Eden XBMC 11.0. This is the first time I have tried XBMC.
When I start the program, I see the XBMC logo and Eden. It just freezes there and says not responding. I try to close it with task manager but once that opens, task manager doesn't respond either.

Odd indeed. Can you try two things? Run XBMC with the -p parameter (right-click the icon, select properties and add -p to the command line) to see if it's an issue with database creation in the user directory, and if that gets further then post a Debug Log per the instructions in that link. The other thing to try is to rollback your nVidia driver as there appears to have been a bug introduced in the latest versions.

This is the second thread I've seen about this with similar logs. Looks like somethig is afoot. What did you change for that log? Only running in -p mode? Did you change Nvidia drivers? You may need to create an advancedsettings.xml file and set the debug level higher. This may give more info on the issue. Look in the online manual for information on the advancedsettings.xml file. I'm on my iPod at the moment or I'd link you right to it.

@kricker I only ran it in -p mode. I rolled back my driver to the farthest it could go. XBMC then started to work perfectly. I closed it but when I tried opening it again, it froze at the splash screen. The log produces the same results.

I get the exact same problem. Windows 7 x64, Geforce 520M - drivers 259.73

It completely hangs the "System" process - in task manager this maxes out on CPU usage. A restart is the only way out of it.

Create an advancedsettings.xml file and set your logging to level 2. Then run and capture a new log.

It freezes at splashscreen for me when using -d 30(30 sec delay start) on startup shortcut. Did not have the problem w/Dharma. Only fix I found was to install 3rd party startup delay software.

hey i figured it out. i have 2 graphics cards, the nvidia one and the integrated graphics card. i just went into the nvidia settings and selected the nvidia video card to be the preferred graphics processor for xbmc. works like a charm now!

i had to roll back my nvidia drivers all the way for it to work. and keep in mind, once you roll it back, you have to go back into the nvidia settings again and set the preferred graphics card for xbmc to the card again.
