[REQUEST] SopCast Plugin

First, it needs to updated to the new plugin format (eg. create a default.py). There are tutorials on how to do this.

Then, when you run it for the first time it will fail. You need to modify where the plugin looks for sopcast channels. This might be set in advancedsettings.xml. Check your xbmc log file. I changed mine to a local file (chlist.xml) which I edit by hand when needed.

One problem is that when you stop playback in xbmc, the sp-sc program keeps running in the background and you cannot change streams. I got around this by putting a script in advanced launcher to close sp-sc.

Sorry I cannot give more details, I worked on this a year ago and my memory is not good. I am a complete noob - anybody with decent python skills could use xsopcast and make a great plugin.

Hi!

It's possible that you upload your sopcast plugin folder for test it? thanks!!!

Simply make a .m3u file containing a link to your pc running sopcast (eg. http://192.168.0.2:8902).

Thanks for the reply, but I really need a few more words Wink So basically I use notepad and just have my IP address as a link inside it, i rename the extension to .m3u and then where do I put this file?

That's correct. You put it wherever you can access it through XBMC.

@tocinillo I can upload my sopcast folder but only have access via ssh (no keyboard or mouse on my HTPC). If you can tell me how to compress and upload via a ssh terminal, I'll try it.

Hi oligolli!

To compress the folder: http://www.ozzu.com/hosting-forum/compre...62393.html

And then to transfer the new file to your PC: http://1024bitez.blogspot.com.es/2010/09...pying.html

Please, I hope that you upload your sopcast folder or post more detailed instructions!!!

Thanks.

Here you go: http://mir.cr/0OGD7AUZ

Remember to update your advancedsettings.xml file.

You need to include a valid URL to a chlist.xml. You can use http://www.sopcast.com/chlist.xml or make your own in the same format.

All credit goes to the original xSopcast author. Good luck.

Really thanks oligolli!!!!!!!! Now I'm going to test it.

EDIT: I don't know why, but when I try to play any sop stream this is stopped at 6%...Sad
EDIT2: Now I installed libstdc++5 and now the sop stream end's at 100%, but now appears "working" message and stuck here...
EDIT3: xbmc.log says that:

17:13:33 T:2881465200 WARNING: ReadEdl - Error on line 1 in EDL file: http://localhost:9001/.edl
17:13:33 T:2881465200 WARNING: ReadEdl - Error on line 2 in EDL file: http://localhost:9001/.edl

I noticed the same problem. one of the streams began playing after a few minutes but it was way too choppy and jumping around. and when exiting the app it either sticks or tosses me completely out of the app and back to home.

I should probably mention I am running an older version of xbmc (dharma maybe?). Don't know if that affects it.

Make sure sp-sc works outside xbmc from the command line and use vlc to play it. Use a stream you know works.
Try creating your own chlist.xml file on your pc and link to it using "file://location/chlist.xml"
Remember that sp-sc can remain running after you close a stream in xbmc and needs to be killed manually.

When you don't have a spare windows computer, the solution with linking to that is not a solution.

As far as i can see, the Sopcast Player should be able to run on a linux machine without a windows machine, and thereby be able to get it to work with xbmc.
http://code.google.com/p/sopcast-player/

Maybe it is possible to get to work without the player and just use the library from SopCast directly? Undecided

Hi!

What xbmc version are you using? (for confirm that, go to System (submenu), and System Information.

Thanks Tongue

The bug is reported here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=115759

The same bug, I don't know why this appears on Eden but not in Dharma...

I'm messing around with using the LiveStreams plugin to at least watch a channel being sent from sp-sc-auth on a Linux PC, because my XBMC is a Windows HTPC, by using http://IP:PORT/tv.asf but I'm hitting a major problem.

Even though XBMC plays the channels with excellent quality, so far my only options are either manually change the channel being sent by sp-sc-auth every time or a script to run multiple sp-sc-auth's but this wastes a lot of resources.

I need to figure out some way to change the channels, but I'm drawing blanks.

I figured it out by using Advanced Launcher, a bat file, sh file, and vlc to get it to work.

I'm glad because I'm not 100% sure why but it seems like the Romainian Discovery Network channels have much more and better documentaries than the US versions.

Also the Nat Geos.

I guess it's due to the US reality show faze bumping out the documentary type shows.
