Can't find info on XBMC Live + HD Audio + What Hardware to buy?
#1
I'm going to be building a HTPC to do a few things:

1) Bitstream HDAudio Sources (TrueHD,DTS-MA)
2) 1080p Movies/TV Shows
3) Control all this from my Logitech Harmony + whatever IR Adapter
4) Play my MP3 Library
5) Look at Picture Library
6) Play Spotify (If Possible)

Thats it.

I want to do XBMC Live As I rather run something linux based, as well as prefer the Set-Top-Box feel and faster boot times/less resources used etc...

However from my readings on the forums it seems I can't run XBMC Live if I want to bitstream HD Audio, does this still hold true or has this been developed?

What hardware do I need to do so on linux (Video/Audio Card/Processor)? I'll figure out the rest of the compnenents once I know what is required to have HD Audio on Live.

XBMC v11 does not yet support HD audio. There are some unofficial builds for Windows that have some "test code" with HD audio, but I have not seen any yet for XBMC Live/Linux.

Oh, so not even the latest XBMC on Windows 7 officially supports HD Audio?

Not officially but DDamian did an incredible job coding it. It works great on my system. TrueHD, DTS HD, etc.

I was considering XMBCuntu and it never occurred to me though that this is probably only complied for the x86 version?

And just to clarify - it was DanielaE's coding - I only put together some builds. Linux bitstreaming will have to wait for AE and you need a GPU which can support it. Generally nVidia has better drivers for Linux, but there are many new GPU's from both nVidia and ATI which support TrueHD/DTS-MA.
System: XBMC HTPC with HDMI WASAPI & AudioEngine - Denon  AVR-3808CI  - Denon DVD-5900 Universal Player  - Denon DCM-27 CD-Changer

If I have been able to help feel free to add to my reputation +/- below - thanks!
