So I've been trying to figure this out all day.
I have a Dell XPS M1530 with a Geforce 8600M card which has been running fine on Windows XP and Vista.
Today I decided to get a new laptop and use my old XPS M1530 for XBMC, the problem is that it doesn't find any external monitors on either HDMI or VGA when running the Ubuntu (XBMC).
Has anyone had a similiar problem and been able to solve it? The normal FN+F8 key does not work, neither does xrandr which produces a cannot open display message.
Any suggestions? Is it possible to edit my xorg.conf to fix this issue?
