Hi.

I have just installed XBMC v. 11 Eden but I can't get it to work. I have tried looking in other post in here, but i haven't had any luck solving my problem.

Everytime i try to run XBMC it crashes when the start screen appears. I cannot close the program and after a while i have to reboot the computer. I run Windows 7 64-bit and all drivers should be updated so i can't figure out what to do.

The logfile for my last attempt on starting the program can be found here: http://pastebin.com/Z0mbvidr

Hope anyone can help.

Jonas

Strange...

You said "...logfile for my last attempt..." but the log says
Code:
...
17:10:25 T:7136  NOTICE: special://masterprofile/ is mapped to: C:\Users\Jonas\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata
...
17:10:25 T:7136   ERROR: Unable to load special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml, creating new special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml with default values
...
Which indicates that xbmc could not save the guisettings.xml in a previous try.

Does this folder exist:
C:\Users\Jonas\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata
?
EDIT:
Of course it exists - you got the log from there *g*

Did you already try to remove this folder?
Or you could also try starting xbmc in portable mode (add "-p" to your xbmc shortcut)

Hi Jonas

Have you sorted the problem out? I just installed V11 and got exactly the same problems as you. I also had problems with V10, it didnt crash my system but just had some process in the background but not even a startup screen. Very frustrating!

Further testing:

I uninstalled XBMC. Then deleted the XBMC folder under C:\Users\adrianb\AppData\Roaming\XBMC which was not removed on uninstall. Then reinstalled and ran, but again it crashed. After another forced shutdown, I then deleted XBMC\userdata and ran it again, and again it crashed.

Looking at the log file, I have similar events:

22:55:37 T:5196 ERROR: special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml, Line 0
Failed to open file
22:55:37 T:5196 ERROR: Unable to load special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml, creating new special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml with default values

but XBMC seems to continue thereafter and stops on the following line:

22:55:43 T:3372 ERROR: CRemoteControl::Connect - failed to connect

You don't need debugging on. The log will probably show us the cause of the crash even when debugging is off. Open the debug log by pressing Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:

Code:
"%appdata%\xbmc\xbmc.log"

(including the quotes). Click OK and the log should open in Notepad. Copy and paste the log into http://pastebin.com/ and post the link it gives you here.
