I had the same issue, but on different configuration.
In my case it was virtual drive fault. After unmounting and turning it off - XBMC works again!

I experienced eden crashing upon startup on W7 64. Noticed the last post was directing the problem caused by the graphics card. I have the latest drivers, so I decided to change the colour depth from 32bit to 16bit. Hay presto... Fixed!!!

I had the same problem on w7 64. For me the issue was fixed by only using a single screen setting instead of my usual extended.
