Quote:When compared with a 25W A10-Series low-voltage APU, this difference grows even bigger, as the AMD chip scores an impressive 3600 points

Yes, although the LLano series are beasts for any regular HTPC needs, able to even do 3D BlueRay, this Trinity series is really something amazing, and might be worth waiting for, for those who wish to maybe game a bit more or are just power hungry! The release of these will probably also lower Llano prices further!

Discuss, and post any more info as you find it!

Why A8's? I posted the A10's, you'd just be more interested in getting an A8, it just curious about it?

I was planning to build a HTPC soonish, but with all this info about trinity trickling in I'm definitely going to wait for it! Got the rest of my parts picked though!

why A8?

well, i always look for the cheapest APU that will let me use win7 + XBMC + Heavy SKins all in --> %110 Fluid Mode

and i strongly believe the A8-5500 is at a sweet spot exactly for that..

if its priced right, it'll be just like the A6-3500 APU, the perfect low cost HTPC APU

I brought it up late last year, and it's on target- AMD Trinity APU
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

A10-5700 will be powerful for sure!!

however, for HTPC use, it'll probably be an OverKiLL APU...

i guess all will depend on their $$$

I guess it depends on the new Mobo release dates, and also where you live.
For me I am in NZ so I doubt I will see the new kit available here until June or July. However there is always int shipping Smile

In regards to the Mobo's and the new socket architecture which is FM2 the release dates for the MITX mobo series will be the deciding factor for me.

Yeah I'm in the US so getting stuff shouldn't be too much an issue. I was doing some research and it seems that May 15th is the date. Then went looking for Motherboards, and it seems like those won't be avail till June. So for me if its avail around May 21st ill prob buy it otherwise ill stick too the A6-3500

For me, it is about when I have the funding. To clarify if I had the money now I would go for the A6-3500. But I don't so I look at what I can get when I have the money - I hope that makes sense.
