Hello,
Since I started with xbmc on appletv2 this was always bugging me.
I wanna use apple as music player. TV is only needed for songs selection and then i want to turn it off (too much power consumption - 42inch LCD)
When I play music (mp3,flac,dts) or video (music ISOs with static pictures) and TV is OFF every few seconds there is a short interrupt in audio.
When TV is ON problem does not exist.
Thx
System specs.
ATV2 is connected to TV via HDMI.
ATV2 is connected to receiver via SPDIF.
XBMC is setup to Optical output.
XBMC V11.0 Eden

Is it possible that a problem comes from iOS version (4.1.1 is relatively old)
However reading about iOS 5.1 and XBMC is little discouraging (I should not update or should I?) Anybody see the same issue? |

If you have HDMI inputs on your avr i would say you should loop it through the avr via HDMI. This sounds like a hdmi issue. Does this issue exist when using the ATV2 radio stations aswell?

similar behavior here. when i turn the tv off, there are some short interrupts in audio playback. takes about 10 seconds for interrupts to disappear.
same thing happens if i unplug the hdmi cable. i thought it was a hardware flaw in atv2. ATV2 is connected to TV via HDMI. ATV2 is connected to DAC via TOSLINK (optical spdif). XBMC is setup to Optical output. XBMC V11.0 Eden Apple Software Version 4.1.1 |

Just tested with atv2 radio stations - same exact behavior. Completely outside of xbmc. So possibly iOS update will fix it. Is it OK to update to newest iOS or its not generally recommended? I am reading different opinions. As usual some people say its no problem , some say its disaster
