Windows Artwork Type

Is there a way for the skin to know what type of artwork should be used. What I mean to say is, if I change the view from say landscape to a view to uses posters, can the skin know to use the poster file instead of squeezing the landscape picture into the poster space.

I would also love to be able to set a default style for displaying artwork i.e. use landscape season thumbs unless there are non available in which case use posters.
