. But all that doesn't matter because when xbmc is running and has stuff to do there is not enough cpu power left for reaching that measured speed

thats not sufficient ... scp is using ssl encryption which sucks up atv2 cpu. for a real speedtest use something like netcat and a stopwatch
. But all that doesn't matter because when xbmc is running and has stuff to do there is not enough cpu power left for reaching that measured speed

I've already got hardware acceleration turned on.
I'm also hardwired directly to my wireless router as I wanted to eliminate that issue. No luck. If I stream anything in HD off the internet (again, I have not downloaded any of my own files to a network, this is strictly streaming via video add ons over the net) it just hangs and says "Buffering" but never gets past 0%. Just ran a speed test on my laptop (which isn't wired) and getting 40Mbps. I'm assuming I'm getting the same thing via the wired connection to the ATV2 so should be more than fast enough to stream HD. Anything off of Rapidshare in particular really stinks. |

Rapidshare? What are you streaming? If it's HD DiVX stuff, ATV2 doesn't have the power to process those - network doesn't matter.

@sdbc - not sure if applicable since we're not sure what add ons you're using, but rapidshare and many other hosts changed their free download speed a couple months after MU collapsed (RS is capped to 30Kb/s, and can restrict filesize) and free users are incredibly slow...you may not have noticed that you're not authenticated if you have premium given that free used to be unrestricted

So for Rapidshare do I need to get an account and then somehow insert that information into the plugin? Can't discuss the plugin here, only at xbmchub...

I would say you go over to xbmchub for all this discussion. Because we know what you are using. Only thing to say - atv2 won't play non h.264 HD content. All said imho.
