Hi all,

I've installed a fresh copy of XBMCbuntu on my Acer Revo R3610 but I get the below error every time I try to play a file or stream:
ERROR: Unable to open audio mixer

I had no issues with Dharma on the same machine. Defaults settings were fine, I didn't change anything, it just worked.

I've tried every variation of audio settings but no luck.

I've searched the forums and found a few threads on the issue. I've tried a few suggestions, but no joy.

Anybody else seen this issue on a revo? Eden installed fine on my Asrock 330, no issues at all.

All,

I've fixed the issue. For any others that encounter it.

I tried running the command alsamixer and it gave an error saying that /home/steve/.asoundrc maybe corrupt.

I backed up and deleted the file, ran alsamixer again and the command gave me the expected diologue and not an error.

Rebooted and issue fixed. Playback and audio is fine.

You're the best Steve. I ran into the same problem after installing some addons (I guess that triggered it somehow). Since I boot Eden (XBMCbuntu) and Dharma (Live) from the network I switched back to Dharma to watch a movie the other day, but I like Eden (airplay support) better
