I created a topic about this a few months ago and thought it would be better here in the feature suggestions:

I'm wondering if this feature is available and if not what it would take. I'd love if when I select a movie to play if in addition to Resume/Restart Movie there were also the options to Play Movie or Play Disc assuming the video file supported it.

Basically Play Disc would be to load up the menu structure (assuming you have a DVD ISO or Files. Play Movie would skip the menu structure and go straight to the beginning of the movie.

I believe high end systems like Kaleidescape offer something like this. I'm not sure how they do it but I'd imagine it has to do with something in the file structure of the movie.

Is this feature available in XBMC and if it isn't would it be possible if a developer put their mind to it?

Another idea which could accomplish the Play Movie functionality would be to Use Bookmarks (or some database of previously stored bookmarks) to signify the start of a movie. I've been reading about the Kaleidescape vs. DVD CCA case and it seems one of the major benefits of Kaleidescape is the database of Movie start times that it keeps. This allows a movie to check the server and start at the determined time assuring that all previews, warnings and other junk is skipped.

Any thoughts? Thanks.
